
Sarah Van Sciver is a composer-performer musician and multimedia artist. She writes, arranges, records, and produces scores, songs, sounds, images, videos, and projection designs for concert, opera, film/TV, theatre, and studio album productions. A vocalist, pianist, harpist, ukulele player, technical director, and conductor/music director, Sarah also proudly teaches and mentors aspiring, emerging, and established artists. Selected credits include crafting score, songs, and sound for the film Strange as Angels (Born Lucky Studios); composing music for stage plays The Magnus Effect and Fifty Days at Iliam (Greenfield Collective) and for operas operas Shadow House (Philadelphia Opera Collective) and RUBBISH (CalArts New Works Festival); releasing three EP albums of original music, Ophelia’s Song, Overture to an Adventure, and Puzzle Pieces; and premiering Girondines, the chamber opera she composed with libretto by Kirsten C. Kunkle, a voting citizen of the Mvskoke Nation lauded as the leading Native American soprano in today’s classical music world. Girondines had its east coast in-concert premiere with Wilmington Concert Opera in Wilmington in October 2022 and had its west coast fully-staged premiere with Mission Opera in Los Angeles in October 2023. In addition to composing the music of Girondines, Sarah also crafted its sound designs and projection designs.
